HOSPITALITY, 2021
a mural for Casa de las Comunidades
8.5’ x 27.5’
@444 Chama Street, Albuquerque, NM

Casa de las Comunidades is a Catholic Worker project here in Albuquerque. Sister Teresa Aparicio-Cervantes has offered food, clothing, job training and job opportunities to all who come to her for 22 years. She is originally from northern Mexico, and has been a nun for most of her adult life. Our Lady of Victory is an organization of socially engaged nuns who do work in communities. Sister Teresa, and Casa, serve immigrants from South America, and primarily Mexico. Casa is a part of a network of ministries and programs in Albuquerque’s International District that form a safety net for people on the street in the ID.

It was an honor to create a mural for her, for the lineages that gave rise to and support her mission, and for the communities she is dedicated to. Thank you to all I met through Casa for their offerings of faith and joy.
